Costa Rica

It's been a long time since I've posted anything. It seemed like I was rushing around a lot with a to-do list, and then before I knew it, it was time to go to Costa Rica! C+L invited the rest of us to join them on their honeymoon, and I'm so thankful for the adventures that have inspired me to find new ones. I need ideas! I am thinking maybe Budapest or Prague.. but Istanbul, Greece and Cuba are all other considerations. I had never really traveled to tropical destinations, so it's making me reconsider my future plans. I think my favorite part of the trip was going to Montezuma. We stayed in Jaco, which had a great beach with waves that kept us busy all day. And then we took a small, crazy boat that shook around and in the air because of the huge waves that we endured for maybe 2 hours. But S & I held on for our life, and laughed almost the whole way over. Can I put a video on here?

I'd never seen Iguanas walking around, or almost slipped off a mountain, hiking to a waterfall. I'd never seen so many monkeys freely jumping around and stealing people's chips from their backpacks. I love the beach and waking up at 5:50am to find treasures along the sands. We had two lil' dogs following us around the beach. At first I had been sad about all the loose dogs, roaming and laying about, but it's true... they are free and running wherever they want to go. I wanted to keep them and pack them in my suitcase. oh, Masu. I think I need to live on the beach and listen to the crashing waves again soon. (and throw out my cell phone.. byebye).

I'm leaving you with a few photos from our first day in Costa Rica. ciao!

weddings

Yesterday was C+L's wedding... it was really beautiful. I will have to show you some photos. After the ceremony I hugged them both and was overtaken with emotion because they are so in love and buzzing with excitement. I go to many weddings, since it's my job, and you can tell who's going to make it through thick and thin... who's truly, truly in love. They forget that the camera is even there. C+L didn't even see me. :)

These photos above aren't from their wedding. They are photos by duston todd. He has some amazing photos that you should check out. I also love the shoes in the middle photos.

Speaking of great photographers, I just found these photos by josh goleman:
(and look at how pretty this bride is).

I want to get one of these half frame cameras. The Olympus Pen F is a 18X24mm frame film camera made in the sixties, which seems to go for around $400-$800. Too much for me. I want a rangefinder and some new lenses which will probably come first. It's a pricey hobby.

Two other lil' wedding thoughts: if you're looking for a place to have your ceremony/reception in Detroit... two great places are:

1. The Scarab club -The outside courtyard is old looking with the brick building and cobblestone walkway, arched doorways and vines. You feel like you're in a foreign country! and the inside has wood floors and art on the walls since it's a gallery. good choice laura.

2. The Gem Theatre - It's filled with beautiful chandeliers, ornate details and many perfect spots for photos. Their couches and chairs are vintage and amazing, and the outside patio is quaint and private with umbrella tables. But I do think you made the right choice, L.

photos coming soon.
